![Cooperation Case: Custom Special-Shaped Silicone Wrist Rest Mouse Pad Project with SEGA 1]()
Client Profile
SEGA, formerly known as SEGA Toys Co., Ltd. and renamed SEGA Fave Corporation in 2024, is a world-renowned Japanese toy and arcade game company under SEGA Sammy Holdings. With a history dating back to 1991, SEGA has established a global reputation for its innovative product development, high-quality standards, and influential presence in the gaming and toy industries. The company is well-known for creating iconic entertainment products, including arcade systems, popular toy franchises, and edutainment systems, serving markets worldwide with its professional and creative solutions.
Cooperation Background
Driven by the growing demand for ergonomic and customized peripheral products in the gaming and office sectors, SEGA initiated a project to develop a special-shaped silicone
wrist rest mouse pad. This product aims to combine ergonomic comfort with unique design aesthetics, catering to the needs of gamers and long-hour computer users while aligning with SEGA’s brand image of innovation and quality. Our team was selected as the cooperative partner for this project, relying on our professional capabilities in silicone product R&D, customization, and strict quality control.
Cooperation Process
Phase 1: Initial Tripartite Communication & Demand Alignment
The first communication was initiated by the client team from Dongguan and Hong Kong, who visited our premises in person, while the SEGA team from Japan participated remotely via online video conference. Focusing on the design drawings provided by SEGA, our team conducted an in-depth tripartite discussion to clarify core requirements and technical feasibility. Key topics of the communication included three critical aspects: the realization of the special-shaped structure (ensuring the design’s uniqueness while meeting production standards), the optimization of product thickness (balancing ergonomic comfort with structural stability, referring to industry ergonomic standards of 3–4mm support height), and the physical presentation effect (ensuring the final product perfectly restores the design’s details and color matching).
During the discussion, our team demonstrated professional insights into silicone material properties, such as Shore A hardness selection (recommending 60±2 Shore A to avoid excessive softness or rigidity) and anti-deformation performance, providing targeted suggestions to solve potential technical problems in the design. This full and in-depth communication laid a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the subsequent project.
Phase 2: On-Site Follow-Up & Prototype Details Confirmation
Two weeks after the initial communication, the SEGA team from Japan, together with the Dongguan client team, paid a second visit to our premises for an on-site discussion on prototype details. This face-to-face communication focused on refining the production process of the prototype, including silicone material selection (prioritizing non-toxic, odorless, and high-rebound silicone), mold manufacturing precision, surface treatment technology (to ensure anti-slip performance and smooth mouse tracking), and sample delivery time.
Our team presented a detailed prototype plan, including material samples, mold design sketches, and production process flow, and conducted in-depth exchanges with the client on each link. Thanks to our professional preparation and efficient communication, both parties reached full consensus on all prototype details, and the cooperation entered the initial prototyping stage smoothly.
Current Progress & Future Outlook
At present, the project is in the initial prototyping cooperation stage. Our team is strictly following the confirmed technical standards and design requirements to promote the prototype production, ensuring that the sample meets SEGA’s high-quality standards in terms of ergonomic performance, structural accuracy, and appearance presentation. The cooperation progress has been smooth, and both parties have maintained close communication to timely solve any potential problems in the prototyping process.
This cooperation with SEGA not only reflects our professional strength in custom silicone product R&D and production but also marks an important step in our cooperation with world-renowned brands. We look forward to further deepening cooperation with SEGA, delivering high-quality, customized products that meet market demand, and achieving win-win development.
